The latest edition of the series “Grand Challenges: Answers from North Rhine-Westphalia”, which took place on October 29, focused on sustainable and trustworthy AI technologies. The event was co-organized by the competence center ML2R. Katharina Morik and Stefan Wrobel shaped the event’s program and presented innovative ML2R solutions.
The competence center ML2R has published a report on the implemented activities since its founding in 2018. The report, which gives readers an overview of research and transfer projects, opportunities for collaboration and cooperation partners as well as conducted events, is available online.
The Research Ministers of Germany and France have signed a Joint Declaration of Intent for a Franco-German research and innovation network. As the German coordinator for the collaboration of the German and French AI centers, Katharina Morik played a decisive role in the development process of the document.
In the latest issue of the Handelsblatt Journal “Artificial Intelligence”, Prof. Dr. Katharina Morik addresses the question: How do we achieve AI excellence in Germany? In a guest article, Morik calls for the expansion of AI professorships as the foundation for the systematic strengthening of AI competence centers.
Prof. Dr. Katharina Morik gave a keynote speech on the state of German-French cooperation in the field of Machine Learning. The occasion was the third meeting of the working group “Disruptive Innovations and Artificial Intelligence” (AG DIKI) in the European Parliament.
Raphael Fischer presented his research on the completion of spatio-temporal datasets at a book launch. Using Machine Learning techniques, Fischer reconstructed satellite images in which parts of the earth’s surface were obscured by clouds.
