The Network of National Centres of Excellence for AI Research has launched its virtual Pitch Talks. The new event format offers researchers within the network a platform for in-depth scientific exchange on current research topics and results in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Big Data. ML2R spokesperson Prof. Dr. Katharina Morik coordinates the network, which unites six leading AI research institutions in Germany.

Within the Network of National Centres of Excellence for AI Research, the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD), the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML), the Competence Center Machine Learning Rhine-Ruhr (ML2R), the Tübingen AI Center (TUE.AI Center) and the Competence Center for Scalable Data Services and Solutions (ScaDS.AI) Dresden/Leipzig pool their expertise in the research field of Artificial Intelligence. Their goal is to strengthen Germany as a leading nation for AI technologies and to increase the national and international visibility of German AI research.

Under the leadership of Katharina Morik, the office of coordination, located at the ML2R site of TU Dortmund University, organizes the network’s activities – including the latest event format of virtual pitch talks. The first edition of the regularly held event series focused on the topics Industry 4.0, Machine Learning on Graph Data and Distributed as well as Resource-efficient Machine Learning. During the sessions, researchers of the six national AI centres presented their scientific projects and discussed current research results as well as potentials for future cooperation.
